Here’s a new piece that’s gone through several stages.
I’m not really sure what kind of creature it is, but I think it’s kinda cute.

I’ve read up on “Hi-Fi Color for Comics” and tried to emulate some of the rendering techniques explained there, but it ended up with too hard lines for my taste. Thus I began to experiment a bit, and this is the final result. I may have overdone it a bit, particularly on the belly of the beast, but that’s just another lesson well learned.

The background is textured using a brush I created from scratch myself. I’m actually very pleased with it.

Honestly though, I rather like it. Not that I think it’s sexy or anything, but it has character. The general shape is very similiar to the goblins I’ve drawn previously, but with a fish-like theme to it.

Here’s a crazy goblin-thing, trying to swat away flies and humans with his high-tech weapon of choice.

To be perfectly honest, there’s so many things about this piece that I don’t like that I was very hesitant about posting it at all. Not only is his mouth horribly mutated, but the hands and feet don’t match the limbs at all.
The one redeeming feature is hus rags which I’m relatively pleased with…

The title pretty much tells it all…
I’m going to a birthday party today, and she’s into bellydancing so I though I’d draw her a birthday card.

Not perfectly happy with it, but my first three attempt were so abyssmal that this looks like a genuine Van Gogh in comparison.

Here’s one I drew this morning…
In fact, here’s the pencil sketch, the inked version, and a final scanned and colored version.

It started out as a copy of the face in Action Cartooning (top of page 21), and then I kept on adding things until I got this goofy looking guy here, glaring suspiciously over to the side.

This time I’ll treat you to some pencil sketches instead of inked work.
These started out as eperimenting with avrious poses, but degenerated into general sketching a bit into it.

The one I liked the best were the punching pose, but it’s still not completely “right”. Somethings off, and I can’t quite put my finger on it.

This drawing is actually very different from the other’s I’ve poster through the past few days. How so?
No planning…

It was done during an excedingly boring department meeting at work and I just started doodling with no goal in mind. This is the end result, a truly dorky looking lizard-thing.

Here’s a small piece I made at work the other day. Believe it or not, but the dog wasn’t the focus of my attention during this piece. I was experimenting to see how thin a line of white I could create as an outline without blurring the line between drawing and background, and thus the black circle around it.
The doghead itself was more of an afterthought than a finished product.

By the way, sorry for not posting something yesterday. I was dead tired and hit the sack at the first opportunity. The good news about that is that I got rested enough to draw several things today that I just have to scan in to show you. Drop back tomorrow to see… ^_^
