Here’s a new piece that’s gone through several stages.
I’m not really sure what kind of creature it is, but I think it’s kinda cute.
I’ve read up on “Hi-Fi Color for Comics” and tried to emulate some of the rendering techniques explained there, but it ended up with too hard lines for my taste. Thus I began to experiment a bit, and this is the final result. I may have overdone it a bit, particularly on the belly of the beast, but that’s just another lesson well learned.
The background is textured using a brush I created from scratch myself. I’m actually very pleased with it.
A while ago I bought an app from the iTunes AppStore called “AwsomeNote”. Why mention it here?
Partly because I’m currently on my lunchbreak at work and bored out of my skull, but also it’s the tool of a tip I’m about to give you…
Always carry with you a means for recording notes!
That’s it, short and simple.
Doesn’t matter if you use a notepad and pencil or a $30000 PDA powerful enough to compute the meaning of life. The important part is that you have it available at all times, so it should be small enough to keep in you pocket or purse.
Last night, just as I was about to drift off into sleep, I suddenly flashed on a great scene to use in my upcoming comic. My first impulse was to sleep on and note it down the next morning, but thankfully I decided otherwise.
I reached over for my iPod Touch and fired up AwsomeNote and jotted down the scene in as much detail as I could, then saved it in a folder spesifically created for plot-ideas.
And good thing I did.
Waking up today I KNEW I had conjured up a great idea, but was blank as to what it was. I fired up the app and had a look, and it all came back clear as daylight.
Thus 2 minutes of notetaking saved me from hours of frustratingly trying to remember what I had forgotten.
Take heed… Carry a notepad or the equivalent!
A few days ago I wrote that I would make some major changes to this site.
Lo and behold, they have arrived…
As you can see I’ve changed the layout quite drastically, giving it both a much lighter scheme and theme with background and buttons reminicent of handdrawn sketches and doodles. But that’s just touching on the surface.
The main change is that I’m taking Gobo’s World in an entirely new direction. Instead of hosting a sporadically updated comic I’ll instead use it to post sketches, drawings and other artwork I make. It’ll be transformed to a personal blog and an art-gallery for my personal use and amusement.
I hope you’ll like what I’ve done so far, and that you’ll continue to visit. And if you’re disapointed that there’s not going to be a comic here anymore, don’t be.
I’m currently designing characters and a story for a more storybased comic, which will be available at another site. It’s not done yet, and won’t be published until I have at LEAST 20 comics ready as well as a buffer of at least 10 comics waiting to be released. Just stay patient and check in every once in a while and you’ll eventually find I’ve posted the release. ^_^
As the title says this site will undergo a major change within a few days. I’ll not go into details right now, but suffice it to say that the changes will not be purely cosmetic and that it involves me being a heck of a lot more active in updating.
No, by the topic I don’t mean dragging your significant other by the hair nor am I talking about filthy sex toys.
What’s on my mind is my latest app for my iPod Touch, “Wordpress 2″.
It’s a brilliant little app that let me log into any and all Wordpress accounts I have and moderate, edit and create new posts. All while away from my (not so) trusty computer.
In fact, THIS topic is written on my iPod. Love it! ^_^
